Hexengarde fences and barricades give a fantasy settlement boundaries and improvised obstructions rather than another complete building. The wooden fence theme can suggest the edge of a courtyard, while the barricades can identify a route that has been restricted or altered. Their meaning changes with the surrounding streets and properties.

Distribute the elements between construction and open areas to explain how the town is organised. A blocked street tells a different story from a boundary around a working yard or a position that a group is trying to hold. Changing those relationships between encounters can give the same collection a new role within the campaign.

The set can also contribute to a diorama of urban life or a role-playing scene in which characters need to find a route through the settlement. Decide what the pieces represent before play, then establish cover, movement and visibility under the rules you use. An improvised appearance does not prescribe the strength or effect of a particular barrier.

The default option is 28 mm, with other scales in the selector. Supplied unpainted, ready to prime and paint, the terrain can share wood colours with nearby buildings or use differences in wear to suggest later additions. Consistent shading can connect the boundaries with the rest of your Hexengarde street layout.
