Briarwood ruined house 5 terrain preserves the domestic character of a medieval home within a damaged two-storey shell. Partly destroyed walls expose rooms and interior fireplaces, providing recognisable features around which to arrange miniatures and tell the story of the building.
The fireplaces are an important distinction within this ruin. They give the rooms a former purpose and create details to explore when painting, rather than leaving the interior as an anonymous platform. Surviving walls and open sections create a mixture of enclosed and exposed areas, while the second level adds a different relationship to the street outside.
You can place the house within a war-damaged neighbourhood, beside other abandoned dwellings or at the edge of a settlement that has been left behind. A campaign might return to a particular room as a hiding place or a meeting point, allowing the architecture to become familiar over time. Any tactical use of the walls and elevated spaces should be established through the rules and scenario agreed by the players.
The model comes unpainted, ready to prime and paint. Soot around the fireplaces can contrast with colder tones on broken masonry, while the timber receives its own weathering treatment. Choosing where to add dirt, fading or vegetation will help distinguish a recently damaged house from one that has remained empty for years, without altering the structure itself.
