Fantasy Gangways, Ladders and Stairs

Fantasy gangway and stair terrain gives a settlement routes that go beyond its main streets. The Gangways Ladder and Stairs set brings together gangways, ladders and stairways, allowing a scene to suggest the approach to a jetty, a passage between buildings or access to a raised working area.

These smaller connections can shape the story of a place. A delivery might need to reach a waterside entrance, a pursuit might pass between neighbouring houses or characters might search for an alternative way into a familiar district. Changing the position of an approach can alter those relationships while leaving your larger buildings in place.

Look at where each route begins and ends when organising the scenery. A ladder needs a destination in the scene, just as a gangway needs a reason to cross a gap. Leave the areas used by miniatures accessible and agree how the various approaches work within your rules. The pieces can also serve a diorama in which movement through the setting is implied rather than played.

The default option is 28 mm, with 10, 15, 20, 32 and 35 mm available. Supplied unpainted, ready to prime and paint, the set can adopt the colours of the settlement it connects. Consistent shading and wear will help the separate access elements belong to the same place without making every route visually identical.
