Village church for historical wargames. The Overlord 1944 Village Church represents an intact building with a square tower, pitched roofs and stonework-style walls. Narrow windows, buttresses and arched entrances create a structure that can stand at the centre of a settlement or beside a country road. The image presents different views of the same church to show its overall shape and exterior details.
Combine it with houses, roads and other buildings from your collection to represent a European village. In a game set during the Second World War, its distinctive outline helps identify a prominent location on the tabletop. It can also become a recurring campaign setting, a landmark along an advance or a building around which to organise a mission. The effects of cover, access and objectives depend on your chosen rules and the agreement between players.
Before placing your miniatures, leave enough room around the building for streets and routes that remain practical during play. An open square facing the entrance creates a different scene from a narrow lane beside the side wall. Change the surrounding terrain between encounters while keeping the church as the main landmark of the village. Relate its position to nearby approaches so that the layout suits the scenario you have prepared.
The church is supplied unpainted, ready to prime and paint. Raised wall details and roof tiles provide opportunities for shadows, highlights and weathering that connect it with the rest of your terrain. The images are renders of the design rather than photographs of the supplied finish. The default scale is 28 mm; options of 10, 15, 20, 32 and 35 mm are also available. Check your selected scale before adding the product to your basket.
