Dwarven outpost terrain extends a settlement’s presence beyond its main buildings. The Dwarven Outpost belongs to the Dwarves collection and can mark a remote position along an adventure route. It might stand near a pass, at the approach to a region or alongside other structures that explain why the location is occupied.
A relief mission, the defence of the enclave or an investigation into events at the outpost can each give the scenery a purpose. Decide what lies beyond the site and what the characters expect when they arrive. Linking it with roads and terrain from your collection can make the position part of a wider journey rather than an isolated objective.
When planning the encounter, keep the relevant miniature areas accessible and leave routes that fit the scenario you intend to play. Cover, visibility and access should be resolved according to your game’s rules. The same outpost can recur through a campaign as a familiar boundary between inhabited territory and less-known ground.
The model is supplied unpainted, ready to prime and paint. Choose 10, 15, 20, 28, 32 or 35 mm, with 28 mm selected initially. A palette related to your other dwarven structures can identify the community responsible for the position. Weathering and shading can then suggest how exposed or regularly maintained this particular outpost has become.
